Mark Wood has been replaced by Shamar Joseph of the West Indies. It is a huge move considering Mark Wood is considered one of the quickest bowlers in the world. Shamar Joseph has made an amazing debut in his international career.
The 24-year-old helped West Indies win their first Test in Australia for over 27 years. The right-arm pacer picked 7 wickets in the second innings of the Gabba Test. West Indies won the game by 8 runs to draw the series 1-1.
Lucknow Super Giants make a giant move
It was a surprise all around for the cricket fans as Lucknow Super Giants made a huge move ahead of the IPL 2024 campaign. The franchise released a short statement on their website as Mark Wood was replaced by Shamar Joseph.
Mark Wood is currently in India with the England team and played in the first Test in Hyderabad. The right-arm pacer was rested for the next game as James Anderson replaced him in the playing XI.
Shamar Joseph made his debut for West Indies during the recent tour of Australia. The 24-year-old impressed everyone with his raw pace and aggression. On his Test debut, he picked a fifer in his first innings at the Adelaide Oval.
Travis Head’s century helped Australia win the game as the current WTC champions took a 1-0 lead in the series. In the second Test, Mitchell Starc injured Joseph’s toe with a brutal Yorker which forced him off the field.

It is learned that Shamar Joseph will join the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 3 Crore rupees. Just last year, Joseph was working as a bodyguard before quitting his job to follow his cricketing dreams.
