The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is just two months away. The 10 teams have completed their purchases from the December 19 auction. The teams, having built their resources, had a strong showing in the auction and are now preparing for the grand event. Of the 333 players who registered for the IPL 2024 auction, only 72 were purchased by one of the ten involved teams. The two Australian megastars, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins broke the bank for their respective franchises, earning the highest and second-highest bids in the history of the IPL.

The cash-rich league has always been a fun and thrilling game to watch. Over the years, there have been some brilliant head-to-head matches and thrilling endings to the games. Fans have witnessed some exceptional encounters with the teams on the field. Cricket is often called a gentleman's game, but in recent times, there have been fights between players and coaches.

In the IPL over the recent few years, the crowd have encountered some of the biggest fights in the history of the tournament. The previous season saw some heated exchanges between players and coaches. In the article, we will be looking at the top fights that happened in the history of the IPL.

5. Dhoni argues with Umpires (2019) 

MS Dhoni is the one of the most successful captain in the history of the IPL. The 42-year-old batter is known for his calm and composed nature on and off the field. But he was seen losing his cool in a game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the year 2019 where CSK were chasing and needed 8 runs off 3 balls as Ben Stokes who bowled a full toss and it appeared to be above the waist height the leg-umpire did show the no-ball initially and later on the decision did not stand and the skipper walked into the pitch questioning the umpire's decision. 

4. Harbhajan Singh vs S Sreesanth (2008) 

This incident, took place during a Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians (MI) game. Harbhajan Singh, who was already furious over the loss and was not in the mood of any fun was agitated by Sreesanth's taunts and ended up slapping him. The former spinner was banned for the reminder of the season and later Bhajji expressed his mistake for the incident which occurred during the 2008 IPL season opener and said sorry for the same.  

3. Gambhir vs Kohli (2013)

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli are known for their aggressive style on the field. The two Delhi-born cricketers have always been involved some or the other fight in the cricketing field whether with each other or some other players. On such incident happened in the 2013 Royal Challengers (RCB) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match, where the two was involved in a heated exchange after Gauti was jubilated after removing the RCB skipper due to that they had a verbal spat and the umpires had to separate them. 

2. Mitchell Starc vs Kieron Pollard (2014)

This fight is one of the best and fiercest ones as well, Australia pacer Mitchell Starc who was then part of the RCB team in 2014 had a brutal incident with MI's Kieron Pollard. Pollard was not able to play the speedster and Starc sledged him for that, Pollard in return commanded Starc to return and bowl. While Starc was coming to bowl the ball the West Indies batter moved away from the stumps and decided not to play the ball, but the Aussie pacer did not stop and bowled the ball and in return, the former Windies captain threw the bat towards him. 

1.  Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq (2023) 

As mentioned earlier Kohli and Gambhir are one of those players who are always involved in some incident on the field. In the previous edition of the rich cash league, during the match between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq had a verbal exchange while the latter was batting. After the match during the handshake, both had a verbal argument and things got out of hand when Kohli was talking to Kyle Mayers who was pulled back by Gambhir resulting in a verbal argument between the two former teammates.
