Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 29. The last time these two teams locked horns with each other, DC came out on top by 7 runs. However, SRH avenged their loss and defeated DC by 9 runs to register their 3rd win of the season.

Talking about the match, SRH won the toss and opted to bat first. Their young opener Abhishek Sharma at the top batted as if he was batting on a different surface compared to his top-order batters. The likes Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, and skipper Aiden Markram struggled to make an impact. Harry Brook once again disappointed the fans and departed after a two-ball duck.

Meanwhile, Abhishek was just timing and placing every shot sweetly. he Smashed Ishant for 4 fours in an over to win the powerplay for SRH. Mitchell Marsh bowled a double-wicket maiden and added two more at the end, but Heinrich Klaasen took on Axar Patel for back-to-back sixes and even smashed Nortje in a partnership where Abdul Samad gave him good company. Though Samad fell after a cameo, Klaasen carried on to record his first IPL fifty and helped the team achieve a monumental total of 197 runs.

Brilliant comeback by SRH bowlers

Chasing the target, DC had a horrible start as they lost their skipper and their top run-scorer of this season so far David Warner on a two-ball duck. However, later, Marsh joined hands with Phil Salt and both stitched a 112-run stand for the second wicket. At one stage, it looked like DC would chase the target easily but leg-spinner Mayank Markande provided a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Salt.

And after that, DC started losing wickets at regular interval of time and utilized the magnificent start given by Marsh and Salt. Markande, along with Abhishek and Akeal Hosein, didn't let the DC batters to open their hands while T Natarajan from the other side bowled brutal yorkers to make DC work even hard.
