Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clashed against each other in the Indian Premier League 2023 eliminator at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, May 24. The five-time champions thrashed the Krunal Pandya-led team by 81 runs and are now set to face the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2nd qualifier on May 26 and will try to win it in order to come 1 step closer to their 6th IPL title.

Meanwhile, a video is getting viral on social media in which the Chennai crowd can be seen chanting former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli’s name when LSG’s speedster Naveen-ul-Haq came to the field on the boundary line. However, just like earlier in Lucknow and Kolkata, Naveen savagely asked the crowd to continue the chants in a gesture to show that it was not affecting him.

Watch the video here:

Talking about the match, MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first, however, they didn’t have a great start as Rohit himself and Ishan Kishan failed to provide an excellent start to the team. But, MI star allrounder Cameron Green continued his brilliant form and scored 41 runs off just 23 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also contributed 33 runs off 20 balls.

Brilliant bowling performance by Mumbai Indians

In the end, Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera helped the team to achieve a fighting total of 182 runs. Naveen was the best bowler for LSG as he picked 4 big wickets while conceding only 38 runs in his 4 overs quota. LSG youngster Yash Thakur also bowled well by picking up 3 wickets after conceding only 38 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing the target, LSG was bundled up on the score of just 101 runs and lost all their wickets with 3.3 overs to spare. Akash Madhwal was the star of the night as he registered his best figures in his short IPL career. Madhwal's skiddy nature was practically unplayable on the Chennai pitch, where he registered the figures of 3.3-0-5-5 against LSG.
