The 10th match of the Women’s T20 League was played between Mumbai and UP at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, 12 March 2023. Mumbai came to the contest with 6 points and a healthy net run rate of +4.228. They are placed at the top spot on the points table, while the Warriorz won a couple of games as well.

Talking about the match, the Warriorz won the toss and opted to bat first. Initially, Mumbai bowlers bowled a few tidy overs with the new ball, but UP’s skipper Alyssa Healy negotiated those early overs before shifting gears. Once she got a hang of things, Healy started getting boundaries at regular intervals and notched up a fantastic fifty and scored 58 runs off 46 deliveries, which included 7 fours and 1 six.

Tahlia McGrath along with the captain had a brilliant partnership as they added 82 runs for the third wicket. Just when UP looked like dominating the opposition, Mumbai bowlers pulled things back to an extent. Saika Ishaque, who is performing exceptionally well in the tournament, dismissed both, Healy and McGrath in the same over as the run rate dipped and UP couldn't get the desired finish to their innings as they ended up scoring 159 runs in 20 overs.

Saika Ishaque once again bowled brilliantly

Ishaque picked up 3 wickets and conceded 33 runs in her 4 overs. Amelia Kerr also bowled well as she also conceded 33 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets. All-rounder Hayley Matthews also got success. Chasing the target, the Mumbai-based franchise had a great start as wicketkeeper-batter, Yastika Bhatia provided a flying start to the team.

She smashed 42 runs off just 27 deliveries which included 8 fours and 1 six. However, UP bowlers made a brilliant comeback as they got both Bhatia and Matthews on the score of 58 runs. Post that, it was a slight stutter in the middle overs but then the finishing flourish came at the end from two of the best finishers in the game, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Both stitched an unbeaten partnership of 106 runs for the third wicket. Kaur smashed another half-century in the tournament and helped the team to win the match by 8 wickets.
