'Finally jeet gaye'- Fans react as England beat Netherlands by 160 runs in ODI World Cup 2023

England beat the Netherlands by 160 runs in ODI World Cup 2023, at the Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Jos Buttler's side won a game after losing 5 matches in a row. They are already knocked out from the World Cup but playing for the qualification of the 2025 Champions Trophy as the top 8 teams from the tournament will qualify for the mega event in Pakistan. 

The defending champions won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow built a decent 48-run partnership for the first wicket. The latter was the first one to be back in the dugout as his poor form continued in the tournament. Ben Stokes who made a comeback from his ODI retirement for the tournament scored his maiden hundred in World Cup.

The Three Lions lost quick wickets in the middle overs after two good partnerships. They were struggling at 192/6 when Christ Woakes and Stokes made a crucial 129-run stand to take their team total past 300 runs. The former scored a half-century and gave good support as the reigning champions scored 124 runs in the last 10 overs. 

Stokes guides England to second win

Batting first they lost Bairstow for just 15 runs. Then Joe Root and Malan built an 85-run stand, but the former was back to the pavilion. Malan later went back after scoring 87 runs. Stokes played a brilliant knock and came as a saviour for the side when they were struggling and scored 108 runs off 84 balls hitting 6 fours and as many sixes. Woakes scored an important 51 runs and gave valuable support to the former. 

In reply, the Dutch kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. They were 90/4 and Teja Nidamanuru was the highest scorer for his side with 41 runs as no other batter could go past the 40-run mark. Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali picked three wickets each leaving the Men in Orange in a web.
