India have been in exceptional form in the ODI World Cup 2023. They are currently the only undefeated side in the tournament, so far. The Men in Blue have won seven out of their seven games in the mega event and became the first team to qualify for the semi-final. After their emphatic win by 302 runs against Sri Lanka, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, former Pakistan pacer Hasan Raza has made some cryptic comments after the game.
The former pacer believes that the Cricket Governing Body and Indian Cricket Board are providing the two-time world champions with a different ball, which is swinging a bit more than the other balls and he stated that is why the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are looking dangerous.
The Indian pacers were brilliant last night against Sri Lanka as they were bowled out for just 55 runs. Shami picked his second five-wicket haul in this World Cup and Siraj picked three wickets while Bumrah got one. They share 9 of the 10 wickets between them. In the game against England, Shami and Bumrah were sensational as they picked 7 wickets between them. They are looking dangerous ahead of their clash against South Africa at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
There could also be an extra layer of coating on the ball for swing: Hasan Raza
The pacer said, "We are seeing that when they are batting, they bat really well and suddenly the ball starts doing things when India bowls. There have been 7-8 close DRS calls that have gone in their favour. The way Siraj and Shami were swinging the ball, it seemed like the Cricket Governing Body or the Indian Cricket Board were giving them different balls in the second innings. There needs to be an inspection done on the ball. There could also be an extra layer of coating on the ball for swing."
Shami broke the record of Zaheer Khan as he is currently the highest wicket-taker for India in ODI World Cup history with 45 wickets in 14 innings.
