Pakistan Cricket Team has been out of the ODI World Cup 2023. They have shown dismal performance in the tournament as they lost five and won only four games in the competition and failed to qualify for the knockouts as well for the second consecutive year in the mega event. Skipper Babar Azam's captaincy has come under question after their poor show in the marquee event. The skipper might also lose his captaincy spot as well.

In between the World Cup, their chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq resigned from his post. On October 30 Monday, he decided to step down and sent his resignation letter to Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf after the Men in Green lost four consecutive matches in the competition. The former Pakistan skipper was not happy with allegations of conflict of interest in Pakistan's team selection process for the competition.

Now their bowling coach former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel has resigned from the post after the dismal performance of the side especially in the bowling department. He was appointed on a six-month contract in June this year and was with the team in Sri Lanka in July for a two-match Test series.

The bowling department lets down Pakistan

The pace bowling department of the side has let down the former players and experts. Their star pacer Naseem Shah was already out injured before the tournament started. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf did not look in good rhythm as the latter conceded more than 500 runs in a single edition of the tournament and became the first Asian to achieve this feat. Shaheen's form has been quite up and down since his return from the injury. He did not have clinical inswingers with the new ball and could not pick up wickets well.

PCB said in a press release, "The former South Africa fast bowler joined the Pakistan team on a six-month contract in June this year. Morkel’s first assignment with the men’s team was their tour to Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series adding that Morkel’s replacement would be announced in due course."
