The moment of name came as people one after another started to raise placards to announce Surya as the winner. The first one to hug him was the wicket-keeper batter. The Men in Blue has created history after winning 9 matches in the group stages as they became the first team to achieve this record in ODI World Cup history.
The two-time world champions became the first team who achieve a rare milestone, as the five batters of the side, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul to score half-centuries respectively became the first team in ODI World Cup history to do so in a single game.
