New Zealand vs Sri Lanka has been played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Batting first Sri Lanka struggled in front of the Kiwi bowling attack. They lost wickets at regular intervals only Kusal Perera scored a half-century and some runs at the end by Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka helped them score past 171 runs.
Trent Boult shattered the top order of the Islanders as the pacer picked three wickets. Three bowlers, Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner, and Rachin Ravindra picked up two wickets each. The openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra gave the Kiwis a fiery start as both the batters smacked the bowlers. The former was dismissed after scoring 45 runs off 42 balls and Rachin was the second to go back to the dugout, after playing a 41-run knock.
Rachin also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's record with the most runs in a single edition of the World Cup before turning age 25. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the World Cup as well. The Black Caps won the match by five wickets as they chased it down in 23.2 overs
