Rohit Sharma led the batting charts as he top scored with 66-ball 86 runs with 6 fours and 6 sixes. The Indian skipper made a huge statement while chasing a paltry target of 192. Shubman Gill making his return to cricket scored 16 runs with Virat Kohli also scoring 16.
Shreyas Iyer also batted well to score his first half-century in ODI World Cup 2023. The 28-year-old was not out on 53 as he hit the winning run when he hit Mohammad Nawaz for a four. KL Rahul stayed not out on 19 as India swatted the Pakistani challenge aside to win the game.
Pakistan had to endure the biggest collapse when they were all out for 191 after they were 155/2. Apart from Babar (56) and Mohammad Rizwan (49) none of the Pakistani batters could make a big score. Abdullah Shafique (20) and Imam Ul Haq (36) started well but Mohammad Siraj and Hardik Pandya sent the openers back. Siraj struck again when he bowled Babar Azam while Bumrah got the wicket of Mohammad Rizwan.
