WATCH: Kavya Maran celebrates after Sunrisers Eastern Cape beat Durban's Super Giants in SA20 2024 final

After topping the group stage, the Sunrisers put on a clinical performance in the final. Batting first in the summit battle at Newlands in Cape Town.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SUNE) defeated Durban's Super Giants (DSG) in the final of the SA20 2024. They successfully defended their title with an 89-run win over the DSG. SUNE have the same owners as Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kayva Maran who is a familiar face for the Orange Army was pumped up after the win of the sister-franchise and her video of giving a speech after the match has gone viral on social media. 

After topping the group stage, the Sunrisers put on a clinical performance in the final. Batting first in the summit battle at Newlands in Cape Town, the Orange Army scored 204/3, with captain Aiden Markram hitting 42 not out off 26 balls and Tristan Stubbs scoring an unbeaten 56 off 30. Keshav Maharaj, the Super Giants' skipper, claimed two wickets for 33 in four overs.

In response, DSG were bowled out for 115 in 17 overs by Marco Jansen, who shattered the Super Giants' batting with five wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Wiaan Mulder was the losing side's leading scorer with 38 off 22, while star batter Heinrich Klaasen was back in the dugout for a duck by Ottniel Baartman.

Maran said, "Second cup, back-to-back, two in a row. So glad, so happy, the best performance by the team with bat and ball. I think they have been dominating this whole season...unbelievable to be winning it back-to-back." She was seen celebrating with the players after receiving the Champions Trophy and expressed his happiness by taking the trophy and handing it directly to Captain Markram. After that, both Markram and Kavya Maran celebrated by holding the trophy in their hands. 

The CEO of the 2016 IPL champions will be next seen in the upcoming IPL 2024 edition. After having poor performances in the tournament they would like to come back and perform well in the rich-cash league as they have made a side that is looking good on paper as well.
