Once again demonstrating his reputation as one of the finest fielders in the game, Joburg Super Kings (JSK) skipper Faf du Plessis took an exceptional catch to dismiss MI Cape Town (MICT) batter Dewald Brevis. This wicket was essential for the team as the MICT had a brilliant start to their innings scoring 200 runs for the first wicket.
MI Cape Town (MICT) notched up a remarkable 200-run opening partnership, and Dewald Brevis was entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the momentum. Faced with mid-on and mid-off positioned up in the ring, the young batter attempted to drive a delivery from Lizaad Williams straight down the ground.
Despite Dewald Brevis not making a perfect connection with the ball, he managed to get sufficient elevation to clear mid-off. However, Faf du Plessis executed a remarkable catch by backpedalling and making a stunning last-ditch dive with an outstretched right hand. This showcased Du Plessis' exceptional athleticism, and understandably, he was visibly excited and pumped up after completing the catch.

MICT openers post a solid 243 runs
MI Cape Town made an explosive start, courtesy of a phenomenal performance by openers Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton. The pair established a double-century opening partnership, with Van der Dussen delivering an outstanding century. Although Rickelton fell short of reaching a hundred, his crucial contribution of 98 played a significant role in propelling MICT to a massive total of 243/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Despite facing a formidable total, Faf du Plessis and his team can derive some satisfaction from their performance in the latter part of the first innings. Bowlers like Lizaad Williams, Imran Tahir, and Nandre Burger executed well to mitigate the impact of Kieron Pollard and Liam Livingstone. MICT has posted the second-highest total in SA20 history, yet JSK might believe they've carried a bit of momentum into the second innings and will rely on Du Plessis to provide them with a strong start.
