The 6th match of the Women’s T20 League was played between Gujarat and Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, 08 March 2023. Both teams came after losing their first two matches and hoped to open their winning account in the tournament. But it was Gujarat's day as they clinched their first win of the tournament by 11 runs.

Talking about the match, the Gujarat-based franchise won the toss and elected to bat first and they displayed a brilliant performance with the bat as they finish on a monumental total of 201 runs and once again Bangalore bowlers got smashed again. Despite getting an early breakthrough, Bangalore were taken apart by Sophia Dunkley in the powerplay as she smashed a breathtaking fifty off just 18 balls. She smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes during her inning

However, that wasn’t enough as Harleen Deol, who came to bat at no.3 took over once Dunkley was dismissed on the score of 65 runs off just 28 deliveries, showing her class as she timed the ball brilliantly en route a knock of 67 off just 45 balls which included 9 fours and six. She kept the one end safe till the end and helped the team to cross the 200-run mark. Shreyanka Patil and Heather Knight both picked up two wickets each while Megan Schutt and Renuka Singh also got one wicket each.

Bangalore are in the last position in the points table

Chasing the target, Bangalore once again got a flying start but they repeated the same mistake as skipper Smriti Mandhana couldn’t convert it into a big one and departed after scoring 18 runs. On the other hand, Sophie Devine played a brilliant knock of 66 runs off 45 balls and smashed 8 fours and 2 maximums. Ellyse Perry also played a handy knock but her strike rate was pretty low.

India’s destructive wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh once disappointed Bangalore’s fans and scored just 10 runs. In the end, Knight tried to chase the huge total but didn’t get support from other players. With this loss, Bangalore remains the only side without a win in the tournament so far.
