'Warner need to look in the mirror' - Former Indian cricketer lashes out at David Warner's poor captaincy in IPL 2023 so far

Delhi Capitals (DC) continued their horrible run in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League as they registered their 6th loss of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 9 runs in the 40th match which was played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Despite having an experienced management DC have failed to perform well.

Meanwhile, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his disappointment on David Warner’s captaincy and slammed him for his poor decisions during the match. He said that Warner has failed to lead the side well and hasn’t even shown intent while batting. Warner registered a two-ball duck against SRH and Harbhajan stated that his early dismissal helped the team to reach the target closer as he plays very slowly.

“I don't think they can make a comeback, and the entire reason for that is captain. He didn't lead the side well, and then his form was an issue. It has been very disappointing. Warner was dismissed earlier today (vs SRH), which is why Delhi came so close. If he had played 50 balls, that would've been 50 balls wasted and DC would've lost by 50 runs,” Harbhajan said in a no-holds-barred attack on the Australia star in a YouTube video.

Harbhajan was also not impressed with Warner pointing out other’s mistakes in the post-match presentation and lashes out at him for his poor strike rate. He even stated that Warner’s 300+ runs in the season so far are of no use to DC.

“Even now, when he comes to presentations, he says about other players' mistakes. But what have you done? You didn't show any intent; you scored 300+ runs but look at your strike rate. Warner hasn't really done justice to his stature this year. His 300 runs are of no use to DC. Warner needs to look in the mirror if he wants to find a reason for DC being at the bottom,” Harbhajan said further.
