Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya and former Chennai skipper Ravindra Jadeja were put against each other in the Indian T20 League 2023 TV broadcast rights holder. For the first time in the history of the league, the TV and digital rights holders are two different organizations. Last year, the rights for the next five years cycle (2023-2028) were sold by the Indian Cricket Board.

Meanwhile, in the new promo, the likes of Pandya and Jadeja had a banter against each other. The former started by reminding his India teammate about how his team won the title in their maiden season. In reply, Jadeja reminded Pandya that his side has won the title four times (2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021). The first game of the upcoming 16th season will be played between the defending champions, Gujarat, and former winners, Chennai.

Meanwhile, India all-rounder Pandya led an Indian T20 League for the first time. He led the Ahmedabad-based side to their maiden title in the first season. They beat the 2008 winners, Rajasthan at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This year, they would look to defend their title with only Chennai (2010, 2011) and Mumbai (2019, 2020) being able to do so up until now.

On the other hand, Chennai will look to come up with a much-improved performance. Last year, they finished ninth in the table. Notably, between the seasons 2020 and 2022, the Yellow Brigade finished second last twice and won the title in 2021.
