Considering the upcoming big tournaments like the Test championship final, Asia Cup 2023 and the 2023 World Cup, team India skipper Rohit Sharma might miss out on a few matches of the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League to manage his workload. After the final of the cash-rich league, the Men in Blue will face Australia at The Oval for the Test Championship final.

Meanwhile, it is also reported that the no.1 T20I ranked batter in the world Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Mumbai-based franchise in absence of Rohit. Suryakumar had a horrible ODI series against Australia recently where he set a record of 3 consecutive golden ducks in the ODI series. It'd be interesting to see how he gets over the ODI series and lead Mumbai.

It’s all up to the franchises now: Rohit Sharma

Earlier, after the conclusion of the ODI series against the Australia Team, Rohit stressed that it's all up to the franchises and players if they want to keep themselves fit by missing out few matches before the major world tournaments. He also said that the management has already given some indications about it. However, he also mentioned that it might not happen.

"It’s all up to the franchises now. They own them now. We have given some indications to the teams, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the franchises. And more importantly, it’s up to the players. They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen, but,” Rohit had said.

Talking about Mumbai's squad for the upcoming season of the richest cricket league in the world, the team made some big additions in the team as Australian allrounder Cameron Green will be seen in action for the first time. Apart from him, England's speedster Jofra Archer who missed the last season due to injury is all set to show his ruthless pace in absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
