23 wickets fell on the first day of the 2nd Test between India and South Africa at Cape Town. India dismissed South Africa for just 55 runs in the first innings. It was a day of the bowlers undoubtedly from the both the sides who had a field day hunting the batters for fun. It seems as if every ball had the capability to fetch a wicket.

It was one such deck at Cape Town where the batters were at the back foot from the word go. Winning the toss was not ideal for SA, who opted to bat first. India were happy to lose it, as their bowlers were all over the batters of the home side in the first session of the match. India dismissed SA for a total of just 55 runs on the board. 

Mohammad Siraj was the star of the bowler for India, who claimed 6/15 in his spell of 9 overs. India in their first innings batted better than SA. The top order batters like Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill applied themselves and gave some fight. Virat Kohli was the best of the lot who attacked the bolwers well and scored some runs.

At one point of time, India was in a good position. The visiting side was 153/4 with KL Rahul and a set batter like Virat in the middle. Whatr followed it was absolute madness, as the Indian batters threw away their wickets on eafter the other. Rahul started the pavilion parade and was continued by other batters who all fell like a pack of cards.

From 153/4, India ended their first innings with a score of 153 runs. India lost their last 6 wickets for just 11 balls. Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada helped SA to contain India to a lesser lead than expected. It allowed the home side to be slightly back in the game. Aiden Markram's batting has helped SA to add 62 runs for the loss of 3 wickets at the end of day's play.
