Mohammed Shami is one of the finest Indian pacers of this generation. The speedster has been in sensational form in the ODI World Cup 2023. He was the highest wicket-taker in the mega event picking up 24 wickets in 7 games. The 33-year-old pacer had recently been awarded the Arjun Award for his marvellous achievement with the national team. He has been recovering from the injury that he sustained during the major event.

During a recent interview, Shami was honest about Hardik Pandya's decision to join the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after he was traded by the Gujarat Titans (GT). Since Hardik wasn't bound to the team for the rest of his life, the pacer claimed that "no one cares" about his departure. The star all-rounder will be captaining the five-time champions team.

Shami has been a guiding force in the success and finished as the highest wicket-taker in IPL last season, though GT missed winning the title a second consecutive time after getting defeated by CSK in the Final. The UP-born pacer is suffering an ankle injury and is out of action. He was not named in the India team for the first two Tests against England.

He did well as a captain as Gujarat made it to the final twice: Mohammed Shami

Speaking on Pandya's departure at the sidelines of the Arjuna Award ceremony, "Kiso ko kisi Kai Jane Sai koyi farak nahi padta. (No one cares about anyone (Hardik Pandya) leaving the franchise). Hardik wanted to leave and he left. He did well as a captain as Gujarat made it to the final twice and also won the title once. He wasn’t tied up to Gujarat for a lifetime."

Shubman Gill has been named as the captain of the side and he said, "Shubman Gill will also become experienced and there is a possibility of him playing for another franchise in the future as well. You can’t stop anyone as it is part and parcel of the game."
