Hardik Pandya's captaincy reason explained

Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced their captain for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. Hardik Pandya has replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain for the five-time champions. The team has faced several backlashes from fans after the appointment of the captain and has lost social media followers as well. Some fans have burnt the jerseys of the franchise as well and questioned the decision. Under Roht MI has won six titles in 10 years with five IPL and one Champions Trophy, he was the most successful captain for the side. 

Hardik was the headline in the retention window as the star all-rounder was brought back to the side where he started his IPL career. He was initially retained by Gujarat Titans (GT) but after MI traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) they brought back him in an all-cash deal of 15 crore INR. Pandya was the skipper of GT and he won the IPL title with them in the first year in the previous edition he led the side to the final where the side lost against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 

Pandya has been out of action as the star batter suffered an injury during the ODI World Cup game against Bangladesh. His main reason for returning to the side as he wanted to lead the side and that was the condition on which he returned, he won four trophies with the franchise as well and looking to start a fresh campaign as a skipper.

The IPL 2024 auction is just a couple of days away as it is scheduled on 19 December, in Dubai. This time there will be a live audience present to witness their star players going under the hammer.
