5 players SRH might target in IPL 2024 auction

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is one of the most unfortunate sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They won the IPL in 2016 under the captaincy of David Warner. Since then they have failed to perform consistently in the toughest T20 league of the world. They come with good money and sensible strategies in the auction table but fail to implement that on the field. SRH tends to buy players looking at the recent forms.

The best example of that is buying the English explosive batter Harry Brook for 13.5 crore INR who failed to perform, in India, and letting them down as well. As a result, they finished at the bottom of the table in the previous edition of the IPL winning only four games in 14 matches. They have a good amount of 34 crore INR left in their bag and they would love to spend it wisely at the auction table.

The IPL auction is scheduled on December 19 in Dubai this is the first instance that the auction is hosted outside the country and there will be a live audience present to witness their star players going under the hammer. In the article, we will be looking for the players that SRH might target in mini-auction 2024.

Here are the 5 players SRH might target in mini-auction

5. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav will be one of the targets for the Orange Army as they would like to add some experienced candidates to their squad alongside Bhubneshwar Kumar. The pacer has a lot of experience playing in the IPL and will be effective with the new ball as well. Umesh was sensational in the 2022 edition of the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He has played more than 100 games in the toughest league in the world. He will be a good partner alongside the Bhuvi and a good backup as well in the long-stretched league.

4. KS Bharat

KS Bharat has been released by Gujarat Titans (GT) after he got fewer opportunities in the franchise. But in the 2021 season, he played some match-winning innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). With 1266 runs in 74 T20 matches, Bharat's low strike rate of 110.85 is a concern. But SRH does not have any backup wicketkeeping option as well they only have Heinrich Klassen. They would need a batter in the middle like Bharat who can anchor the innings and keep the wickets as well.

3. Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga would be an obvious choice for the SRH, as their overseas spin option is vacant as they have released Adil Rashid. Hasaranga can be their target as they need an experienced spinner as the pitch of the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium helps the spinners a lot. They will require a good spinner to give support to Mayank Markande. His ability to take wickets in important intervals makes him an obvious prospect for the Hyderabad-based franchise. They have the purse to acquire him a lot.

2. Travis Head

Travis Head is another good option for the Orange Army, as the explosive Australian opener has shown his ability to play spin and pace equally well. SRH does not have an overseas opener who can fire all guns from the top of the order as they have released Harry Brook and he will be a good option at the top of the order alongside Abhishek Sharma or Mayank Agarwal. They also have a good amount of purse left in their bag and might go all out for the batter.

1. Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra has been the best finding in the ODI World Cup 2023. The 23-year-old batter performed superbly in the mega event scoring three centuries in a single edition of the tournament and surpassing several records. He will be another option for the Hyderabad-based franchise as lacks an explosive opener in the top order and he will give some overs of spin as well for the team.
