Rachin Ravindra is the best finding in the ODI World Cup 2023. The left-handed batter has scored three centuries and became the first Kiwi batter to score three tons in a single edition of the tournament. The 23-year-old was one of the key members of the Black Caps. He surpassed several records in the debut edition of the tournament and filled in the big shoes of Kane Williamson during his absence.

Rachin has been a good player of spin and pace and has also set his base price of 50 lakh INR for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, but he would be sold at a much higher price than that at the auction table. The batter has scored 578 runs in the mega event and has shown his ability to bat anywhere in the top order as well. He can provide with good spin option as a sixth bowler for any franchise he goes into.

The IPL auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19 and this is the first instance that the auction is held outside the country as the reports suggest there will be an interesting addition to the auction, Women’s Premier League (WPL) auctioneer Mallika Sagar, might lead the IPL 2024 auction depending upon her availability. In the article, we will look into the teams that would target Rachin Ravindra in the mini-auction.

Here are the 5 teams that will target Rachin Ravindra

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) needs a batter who can open or can bat at number 3. Rachin Ravindra would be an ideal choice for them as the batter can bat at both positions, with the ability to bowl spin as well. They have let go a lot of all-rounders and only have Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green who was traded from Mumbai in an all-cash deal. Ravindra is an excellent match for RCB, who prefers all-rounders. They may even consider starting him to capitalise on the powerplay and play explosively early on.

4. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in serious need of a batter in the top order as they have released Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu(who has now retired). Rachin can be an ideal replacement for the same as he can bowl left-arm spin. The left-handed batter can bat at number 3 or 4 as he is a good player of spin as well.

3. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) have been looking for a partner to complement Axar Patel's bowling spin. Rachin Ravindra is the ideal candidate. Aside from Axar Patel, DC doesn't have many options for spin-bowling all-rounders, particularly ones with international experience. Ravindra's arrival not only adds depth to their team but also successfully balances. Rachin Ravindra and David Warner might form a formidable opening combo for DC.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished the IPL 2023 at the bottom with just four points. Hyderabad does not have an overseas opener after they have released Harry Brook, they would need a batter who can give a fiery start from the top of the order and can bowl as well. Ravindra has shown his ability by leading New Zealand in batting at the 2023 World Cup. SRH has a lot of amount left in their purse and might go behind him as well.

1. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) has released Bhanuka Rajapaksa and they need a batter who can either open or bat at number 3 Rachin is the ideal player who can fit into the team and will also give a good bowling option as well and increase the depth of their batting order as well. They have failed to get starts from the top order except for Shikhar Dhawan but his inclusion will be a benefit for the side as the batter can give an explosive target at the top of the order.
