The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be taking place on December 19 in Dubai. This is the first instance that an auction will be taking place outside the country. A total of 1166 players have registered for the auction. Of them, 25 have set their starting price at Rs 2 crore or higher. Only 77 slots are to be filled by all ten franchises out of which 30 will be for overseas players. A total of 830 Indian players and 336 foreign players have been there in the list with 212 capped players, 909 uncapped players, and 45 associate players.
Out of the 25 players, 7 players are Australians who were part of the ODI World Cup 2023 championship side. The Indian Cricket Board has yet to give the date for the IPL fixtures, they are waiting for the Election Commission of India's election dates.
The IPL schedule will be set only after the election dates are fixed. The Board has informed the teams that the toughest league will be held from the third week of March to the third week of May, as the T20 World Cup is also scheduled in June. The teams have already retained and released the players in the retention window. The English Cricket Board (ECB) has not clarified why Jofra Archer has not given his name in IPL.

There have been two shocking names on the list Kedar Jadhav and Angelo Mathews. The former is 38 now and did not get any IPL team last time around. As per the reports New Zealand's star Rachin Ravindra has kept his base price at Rs 50 lakh.
