Throughout its illustrious history, the Indian cricket team has worn a variety of shirts. Team India has worn a variety of patterns and hues, beginning with white jersey and progressing to colourful ones. Since 1991, Team India have changed their jersey multiple times.

India wore their first coloured jersey during the 1985 Cricket World Cup but it was not until the 1992 Benson & Hedges World Cup in Australia that the fashion of donning vibrant coloured clothing really kicked on.

There was one Jersey that was never worn by the players. Nike released a new shirt before of the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka that evoked a strong feeling of national pride. The kit's design and aesthetics were inspired by India's rich past.

The kit's primary elements were a modern new collar, a sleek fit, and the tri-color near the cricketer's heart, which symbolized national pride, followed by three stars above the Indian Cricket Board emblem, which represented the three World Cup titles. The outfit, however, never saw the light of day since the Indian Cricket Board advised the players to wear the same gear in which they won the 2011 World Cup.

Here are the top 5 India's limited-overs jerseys

5. 2007 World Cup

In this jersey, India saw a reversal of fortunes. The 2007 50-over World Cup was undoubtedly India's low point, as they were eliminated in the first round after losses to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. However, things altered radically after that, the tri-color moved from the center to the side.

The Indian team wore this shirt to victory in the 2007 World T20. It was in this very jersey that the Men in Blue scripted one of the famous victory in the CB series against Australia in 2008.

4. 2009-2010

After nearly 17 years, the colour of the Indian jersey got much deeper, and its design also reflected the tone. While the pattern of the jersey remained unchanged, the colour of blue got much deeper - virtually identical to the hue worn by India in 1992. It was an unexpected change of jersey, but it was a nice one.

The Men in Blue had a lot of success in bilateral rubbers while wearing this shirt, but their results in the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy - where they were eliminated in the super-8 and league stages, respectively - left a lot to be desired.

3. 2016 T20 World Cup

For the 2016 World Twenty20 at home, India made a big update to their jersey, with an orange-striped pattern inserted on the top-right just over the breast. The Men in Blue were knocked out by West Indies in the semi-finals in the shortest version of the game in Mumbai, unable to repeat their 2011 heists. However, the jersey has become one among the unique ones for India in Twenty20 international cricket.

2. 2003 World Cup

The 2003 World Cup shirt looked quite similar to the 2002 jersey, with a few more black patches on the shoulder and sides to give it a more artistic appeal. This shirt, too, became a fan favourite and was visually appealing. India finished second in the 2003 World Cup, losing in the final to Australia. The jersey worn in the 2004 Champions Trophy was very identical and was also worn in the 2004 ODI series win in Pakistan.

One of the most remembered and treasured Indian jerseys of all time, maybe because it was in this jersey that India fulfilled its 28-year-old ambition of winning the World Cup. The jersey featured the same pattern as the previous one, with tri-color patches on either side, but the colour was much lighter, not as much as in 2007-08. But far lighter than the one Indians wore in 2009-10.
