Five WWE Superstars to have won Royal Rumble multiple times in last 20 years

At the start of a new year, Royal Rumble is the first mega event in a WWE calendar year. For the fans, it is all about seeing their favourite wrestlers take part in the grand event which has been happening since the last 1980s. For the Superstars, it is about a chance to get a go at the world champions to win the much-coveted world titles. Ever since its introduction, the Royal Rumble has attained a legacy which is matched only by the WrestleMania main event. 

In the last 20 years, WWE has changed a lot. New wrestlers have been introduced by the company. Some of them have gone on to become the face of the industry and others have been the major heel at the helm. Despite everything, Royal Rumble is a good opportunity for the wrestlers in all three rosters to try and claim a win so that they can have a go at the world title at WrestleMania. Hence, Royal Rumble is a very important event in a  calendar year.

Ahead of the Royal Rumble 2024, it is time to look at the five WWE Superstars who have won the Royal Rumble multiple times in the last 20 years.

5. Edge

Edge had one of the best comebacks for a wrestler in recent times. The Superstar entered the Royal Rumble 2021 as the first candidate and ended up winning, which is history. In the arena, Edge eliminated Randy Orton to make it to the main event. Before it, Edge had also won in 2010. Entering the ring as the 29th candidate, which is often called a lucky number, Edge ended up winning the event by eliminating the archrival John Cena in the end.

4. Batista

Batista was one of the key characters in the Ruthless Aggression era (RA era) and the PG era. In 2005, Batista won one of the most controversial Royal Rumbles ever. Both he and John Cena fell at the same time. In the rematch, Batista eliminated Cena. Batista also won it for the second time in 2014. The WWE Superstar towards the fag end of his peak eliminated a rising star like Roman Reigns to become the contender to have a go at the world champion.

3. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is known for his ruthless power. The sheer presence of the beast makes the wrestlers fear him. A young Lesnar in the RA Era won the Royal Rumble for the first time in 2003. In the match, Lesnar made the headlines by eliminating The Undertaker to win the Rumble. In 2022, Lesnar again won the Rumble after facing Roman Reigns and the Bloodline earlier in the match. The beast overcame Drew McIntyre to win the Royal Rumble in 2022.

2. Randy Orton

Randy Orton is known for his unpredictability. The viper was a main heel in the RA Era and the PG Era. In his prime, Orton won the Royal Rumble for the first time in 2009. In the main event, Randy overcame the threat of Triple H to win the Rumble. Later in his career in 2017, Orton won the Rumble for the 2nd time. Orton eliminated Roman Reigns in the arena to the delight of the fans to book himself a spot in the main event of the WrestleMania 2017.

1. John Cena

John Cena was the face of the company for a long time. In his prime, Cena won the Rumble twice. The first of it was a moment to remember as it also marked the return of Cena in an unexpected way. Cena eliminated Triple H to win the Rumble in 2008. He won the Rumble just five years after the maiden attempt. In 2013, Cena won the Rumble by eliminating Ryback. He went on to challenge The Rock in the rematch and won in the WrestleMania 2013.
